Process This: Wits MAFA Show
July 2011, Michaelis Gallery, University of Cape Town

With this mural I reconfigured snippets of a series of movement through a city using public transport infrastructure: taxis, trains, and sidewalks. This was an experience of the details of the city in terms of a workday commute: an hour-and-a-half commute going to and from the gallery; a daily passage to and from work. I would travel to work taking photographs, then later, trace the photographs onto transparency sheets, draw with these transparency sheets as elements for a network, project them onto the wall, and eventually connect lines and forms with paint. The mural creates a network of different places in Cape Town between Bellville and Gardens, momentarily stitched.
